Add-on Endorsement — Reading

Reading Add-on Endorsement

WSU’s Reading Endorsement provides the skills and strategies necessary for those who wish to increase dramatically their knowledge of the teaching of reading as well as their cultural competence—awareness, sensitivity, and support of diverse populations—in relation to the literacy growth of students in P-12. Our program embeds curriculum development, pedagogical skills, and diagnostic assessment with tutoring experience.

The Reading Add-On Endorsement program is designed for practicing teachers who wish to expand their areas of endorsement, with coursework available in Spokane and Pullman via face-to-face instruction and AMS video conference.

This program requires 22 credits:

  • TCH_LRN 528 Literacy within the Disciplines
  • TCH_LRN 537 Seminar in Language, Literacy, and Culture
  • TCH_LRN 544 Teaching Children’s and Young Adult Literature
