About Humberto… from Humberto…

“My name is Humberto Jimenez Fernandez . I was born in Mexico. I moved to the United States to learn English and  peruse an education.

“In 2013 and 2015, I received my BA in Spanish with a minor in psychology and MA in adult education from Eastern Washington University.

“I taught English as a second language classes at Big Bend Community College and Yakima Valley Community College. I’m currently teaching education classes at Washington State University and my responsibility is to prepare k-12 future teachers to become effective individuals inside and outside of the classrooms.

“As a PhD student, I  have a big passion for cooperative learning (CL). CL to me is a fun and interesting way of bringing students together where they feel comfortable working with their classmates towards a shared assignment or project. In CL, the teacher serves as a guider and support students who need the extra help to accomplish the required task. I invite teachers to integrate CL in their lessons to foster active participation, peer interaction and help students to polish their communication, social and thinking skills to become responsible and knowledgeable leaders of our communities.”
